Ontario Camping - A Water Play Paradise

By RA Manseau

The name “Ontario” is taken from the Iroquois word “Onitariio” which means “beautiful lake” or “Kanadario” which translates to “beautiful water” a name that fits this province very well. The province has a quarter million lakes and countless rivers and streams, which hold approximately one third of the world’s fresh water. Ontario camping is paradise for the water sport enthusiast.

As you plan your trip to RV Ontario do not forget to put Nagagamisis Lake on the itinerary. This beautiful blue lake takes its name from the Cree word for “lake with fine sandy shores.” If you love good fishing you will love Nagagamisis Lake. Fishing is one of the most popular activities at this lake, but by no means the only one. Swimming is wonderful in the sparkling, clear, clean, blue water. There are nice sandy beaches along most of the shore and behind some of the campsites. All types of watercraft are allowed on the Nagagamisis Lake. Canoeing enthusiast have never had it better then at Nagagamisis, there are two challenging canoe routes that start in this park. The inexperienced canoeists can practice and get there skills down on Park Lake which does not allow any motorboats. Camping in an Ontario campground around Nagagamisis Lake will prove to be a nice resting point on your Ontario camping trip.
