The Indian Dunes State Park in Chesterton consists of 2,182 acres of primitive, beautiful and amazingly unique landscape. Its magnificent beach has a designated swimming area with lifeguards on duty. The Bathhouse and Beach are open each year before Memorial Day and no later that Labor Day. Swimming is only aloud when lifeguards are on duty.

Northern Indiana is full of special places to go and things to do. The Notre Dame campus is spectacular with its ivy-covered walls of classic collegiate Gothic buildings. The campus of Notre Dame attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors who marvel at the shear beauty of this legendary institution for higher education. Notre Dame is on the edge of South Bend.

Michigan City Pierhead, Indiana Campgrounds Visit the Potawatomi Zoo. One of the oldest zoos in the nation, the Potawatomi Zoo celebrated its centennial in 2002. This zoo was named one of the top 20 zoos in the nation for families by “Child Magazine” in 2004. The Potawatomi Zoo is located in South Bend. There are Indiana campgrounds near by to base your visit.

Lake Wawasee in Syracuse is just one of many lakes scattered through out Indiana. At Lake Wawasee you can enjoy boating, water skiing, sailing, swimming, and fishing. The area also has facilities for bowling, tennis, shopping and golf. Neighboring lakes include Syrcuse Lake and Lake Papakeechie. Indiana camping at the lakes during the summer gives the family an opportunity for water sports all day and the children will be thrilled with the Midwest fireflies in the evening.

As you RV Indiana, don’t miss Indianapolis. There are museums and galleries galore. The Downtown Monument Circle would be a great place to start exploring. The 300 foot monument commemorates the valor of all Indiana military men and women in all wars prior to World War I. The Col. Eli Lilly Civil War Museum is housed in the lower level. The monument has an observation level which is accessible by the 330 steps leading up and by elevator.

Downtown Indianapolis, RV Indiana Less that one mile from Monument Circle are the Indiana State Museum, the Museum of American Indians & Western Art, the NCAA Hall of Champions, the White River State Park. The Indianapolis Zoo is only 1.18 miles from Monument Circle. This city can truly keep you busy. After a day of walking through the many sites of Indianapolis, relax in one of the many Indian campgrounds just outside of the city.
