Idaho campgrounds are plentiful and nestled between meandering rivers, lush forest, rugged mountains, clear lakes and cities with all the modern conveniences for the 21st century traveler. No matter what your interest from boating to snow boarding Idaho camping accommodates.

Mt. McGown, Idaho Camping Idaho is an extremely large state, much larger than it appears on a map. The western side of the continental divide of the Rocky Mountains is a significant part of Idaho. It is said that if you were to flatten the mountains of Idaho the state would be bigger than Texas. The northern panhandle is covered with lush green hillsides, forested mountains, and beautiful lakes. Idaho camping is magnificent.

RV Idaho’s northern section and make a stop at Bonners Ferry. This area is thriving with wildlife and breathtaking scenery. Just to the west of Bonners Ferry is the Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge. This is a bird watchers paradise. The refuge is home to more than 230 species of birds, 45 species of mammals and 22 species of fish. There is a 4.5 mile auto tour and for those more ambitious the refuge has a system of foot trails as well. The refuge is open year-round. However, the auto tour is restricted during hunting season.

Shoshone Falls, RV Idaho Just a half mile to the east of Bonners Ferry is one of the highest bridges in Idaho. From this vantage point the views of the Moyie River and the dam are spectacular.

The area around Bonners Ferry is so beautiful one has to see it to believe it. The waterfalls are magnificent and accessible with short easy hikes to some and more challenging hikes to others. The area has a nice selection of Idaho campgrounds near by.

As you RV Idaho south you find more magnificent scenery and places to visit, Make a stop at Coeur D Alene, “Your Lakeside Playground.” This is a large city with a small town feel. Sparkling Lake Coeur D Alene is literally adjacent to the city. And there are other lakes near by. The area offers day time entertainment for every interest, from fishing and boating to white water rafting to amusement parks and golf. For the less outdoorsy the city offers everything from Opera to the Rockin’ B Ranch’s Cowboy Supper Show, shopping and dinning.

Boise is the state’s capital and is located where the high desert meets the Rocky Mountains. There are many Idaho campgrounds in this area because it has so much to offer visitors. Boise is full of museums, art galleries and all the big city attractions, while maintaining its friendly atmosphere. It also has an abundant supply of outdoor recreation. Summertime has warm sunny weather for biking and hiking in the foothills or playing in the river. Winter allows an opportunity for snow boarding and skiing in the near by Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.

Alene Lake resort, Idaho Campgrounds Boise plays host each summer to the Shakespeare festival along the Boise River. The festival features outdoor performances all summer long. Pocatello has much to offer visitors. While here visit the Pocatello Zoo, tour the Idaho Museum of Natural History or play a round of golf. Through out the year this city hosts numerous events. Idaho campgrounds in the area provide a great base for indoor and outdoor recreation.
