Where to
Chaco CanyonAncients still inhabit this National Historical ParkFrom the pages of Camping Life MagazineChaco Culture National Historical Park in New MexicoSpring was perfect with mild days and clear nights just right for exploring and stargazing. We hiked about the abundance of ruins during the day, marveling at the Chacoans' architectural skills. At night, we marveled at the Milky Way and countless stars, knowing we were gazing at the same sky they did centuries ago. Chaco Culture National Historical Park is located in remote northwestern New Mexico, about 70 miles southeast of Farmington. After finding your way to the small town of Nageezi, travel 8 miles on CR 7900, and then continue 13 more miles on CR 7950, a rough dirt road normally suitable for all passenger vehicles...Read More
Mark...My Words
By Mark NemethHi, all! This month's column is all about batteries. Remember to take good care of your RV batteries while your rig is in storage! Keep the water topped up, and make sure they are charged regularly. I wish all of you the happiest of holidays, and I look forward to answering your questions throughout the New Year! -------------------------------------------------------------Hey, Mark! I have a newbie question about charging batteries. When I am traveling down the road and my house batteries are not charging, I have to wonder why? It would make total sense to have some of the energy being generated from the motor to go to charging the house batteries. I figure the reason it doesn't is because the battery types are different. Yes, no, maybe? Should the house batteries receive a charge while under way or not? Thanks! Kevin Read More
RVing with your pet
Volunteering for Animals while RVing By Julee Meltzer Beagle with a BallOk, prepare yourself....I am going to say something politically incorrect in the RV world...I am not a big fan of workamping at private campgrounds. This is probably due to the fact that I create financials and business plans for start-up businesses for a living --- the numbers for hosting just do not add up ($3 or less an hour in general). However, I think there is one exception, volunteer workamping, where you are doing a public service at the same time as getting a free site. If you provide some help to help families learn about history, make sure people have clean trails, and keep up historic structures...then volunteer workamping is a perfect fit. Read More

GEAR HEADBLACK DIAMOND BLAST PACK From the pages of Camping Life Magazine I found my perfect daypack eight years ago. I called it my perfect pack mainly for its back ventilation system and because it held everything I needed for full day on the trail, though truth be told, when it was fully loaded, it cut into my shoulders. It hangs on a hook in my closet, ready for action, always stocked with a rain jacket…Read More
