Hi all, have a fellow camper who has a 15 year old nomand that has an amonia smell in the freezer is there a leak? is there any way to check it or find the leak? thanks for your help

No personal experience, but from everything I have read on this board, get out the checkbook and go buy a new one. Even if it could be repaired, it would be better to get a new one than to fix one that old.

I would say there is a leak since ammonia is used as the refrigerant in most TT frigs.

When you smell ammonia the cooling unit is leaking. There is no way to repair it. If you check in bback of the fridge, you may see some greenish colored residue this is telltale of leaking. time for a new cooling unit or fridge. Since it is 15 yrs old, a fridge would probably be best.
