Immerse yourself in the historic culture of San Juan Capistrano with a self-guided walking tour of the village center before heading to the mission. The Mission San Juan Capistrano, California's most famous mission, is best known for the annual return of the swallows every March 19th on St Joseph's Day. Founded in 1776, it's one of California's most important historical, educational and cultural sites, where you can tour the ruins of the Great Stone Church and see the swallow's nests, examine the original mission bells, and visit the site of the first vineyard and winery in California.

3. Laguna Niguel - 12 miles, 20 minutes
Located at the base of the San Joaquin Hills, Laguna Niguel is an outdoor paradise. Aliso and Wood Canyon Park is a wildlife sanctuary with deep canyons, shallow caves and 4,000 acres of wilderness to explore hiking, biking or on horseback. Sulphur Creek Reservoir offers 44 acres of fishing and water sports, and Aliso Beach is the place to go for surfing and stand up paddle boarding. For a perfect end to the day, it's Badlands Park and the most stunning ocean views around. The fabulous shopping and restaurants of Laguna Beach are just a short drive away. Spend an afternoon here for more great views.
