PDA Camping Blooper
Looking High and Low

As we arrived my brother informed me that I could enter the North lot of the restaurant, drive around the back and park in the South lot, facing out. He told us that he had driven that way and there would be no problem. Of course, it didn't enter my mind that 1) he drove a fairly small car and 2) this was Father's Day and there may be more cars than usual in the lot.

I drove into the North lot and maneuvered the trunk around the corner to find that a telephone pole was located IN the back drive, narrowing the already narrow drive even further. As I could no longer see to back up for any distance, my brother got out and made sure I didn't back into anything as I jockeyed back and forth to avoid striking a car parked at the building corner. Now, concentrating on navigating between the building and telephone pole, I pulled cautiously forward. A concrete pole, intended to protect the corner of the building (which had been below my line of sight with the passenger–side mirror), performed its job magnificently. I heard a sickening crunching sound as it shredded the plastic fender skirt and gouged the sheet metal at the front wheel on the entry side.

Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. After showering my brother with expletives, I headed home.

On arrival there, I was backing the unit into my drive, which required making a turn as it passed the garage. I was backing slowly, and suddenly the 5th wheel stopped moving. I gave it a little extra gas, thinking a tire had caught a rock, but the unit didn't move!? While it appeared there was sufficient room between the 5th wheel and garage (You guessed it!) I had forgotten the roof overhang.

While this new damage to the unit was not really noticeable, I now have an ugly corner on the garage roof. Originally I thought my brother an idiot, but evidently it runs in the family.
