What About HDTV?
By Alan Lidstone – continued from Woodall’s Diamond Club eNewsletter

At that time, analog TVs will require a receiver to convert digital over–the–air signals to analog signals that older TVs can display.

Production of analog TV sets ends in March 2007. The Winegard Digital HD Receiver allows you to continue using an analog TV in your home or RV to receive digital signals without buying a new HDTV. The Winegard Digital HD Receiver requires no monthly fees and will be available in Camping World locations and from the Camping World website on March 1, 2007.

RVers will need an HD–compatible satellite dish or roof antenna to receive HDTV signals. The HD satellite receivers are available from the major satellite service providers and in the big box stores, such as Circuit City or Best Buy. You will find Winegard Sensar HD–compatible TV antennas (motorized or manual) and satellite dishes, integrated satellite dish and receiver combinations and satellite receivers at Camping World and RV suppliers.

If you plan on using an existing analog TV in your RV, consider the Winegard Digital HD Receiver for a clear image with DVD–quality sound and an HD–compatible Winegard RV Sensar antenna. The compact receiver connects easily between your RV antenna and your TV to deliver crystal clear digital channels.

The advantages of the new Winegard HD receiver include:
  • Clearest Image Available
  • Theater Quality Sound – Dolby 5.1 Digital Compatible
  • Increased Programming Choices through Multicasting
  • HDTV Compatible for Use with HD–capable TVs

Many RVs contain a variety of consumer electronics products including TVs, HDTVs, DVDCD players, VCRs, game systems, and mini–Home Theater sound systems packed into tight spaces. RVers modifying or upgrading RV home entertainment electronics should consider:
  • The addition of new or additional components may require a video distribution switch with additional input and output connections to connect the various pieces of equipment.
  • All home entertainment equipment intended for use in the RV should be in place in the RV before initiating any installation activity.
  • Professional installation of antennas, HDTV receivers (satellite or off–the–air), and video switches along with any other associated electronics equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Note Installation tasks that require cutting holes through the roof or running cabling or wiring through your RV should be performed by a professional installer.
  • HDTV connections from the receiver (satellite or off–the–air) to HDTV sets use component cables (not coax) for the TV picture, and audio or optical cabling for the sound. Winegard video distribution switches do not contain an HDMI output connector.
  • HDTV connections from the receiver (satellite or off–the–air) to analog TV sets can use coax or component and audio cables, as appropriate.
  • If your current Winegard RV Sensar Batwing antenna is not HD–compatible, you can order a replacement Winegard Sensar II Replacement Antenna Head to receive HDTV signals for your current Winegard antenna to reduce hardware and installation costs.
And finally, visit www.campingworld.com and www.winegard.com for information, and check for proper operation of all installed home entertainment electronics equipment after making any equipment or connection changes.

Remember, Safety First, and Happy RVing!!!
