Camp Bloopers continued…
told me (or at least recommend I call a Honda dealership for specific intructions). I had too many other things on my mind to think it through further than that so off to Tennessee I went stopping only once overnight to sleep.
Upon arrival, I unhooked the car and left for a nearby city. Much to my surprise the car pulled sharp to the right. I really had to hold tight to keep it straight. I took it to an auto repair shop once I got to that city and asked if merely towing a vehicle would cause the alignment to shift that much? He said no but your front tires are bald. You can only imagine my dismay when I saw that they were completely smooth!
Next, I drove to a Honda dealership where they printed a one–sheet of instructions for towing this particular type of car. First, it included leaving the key in the Auxiliary 1 position. Apparently every time I turned a corner, the wheels remained locked in place and just slid with the car. Second, running the car at least every 8 hours and shifting through the gears in a particular order was necessary. I thought for sure I had also ruined my transmission but fortunately, all has been well with it since.
The experience cost me a new set of front tires but it could have been worse. I’m just happy I now know how to properly tow my car.
