CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
Corpus Christi is a port city located in Nueces County in Southern Texas. It is the deepest inshore port on the Gulf of Mexico and handles both oil and agricultural products.
The city was founded in 1839 as Kinney’s Trading Post, an outpost that sold supplies to members of the Mexican Revolutionary Army. In 1854, the Post was used by General Zachary Taylor as a staging area in preparation for war with Mexico. A few months after his arrival, the area’s name was changed to Corpus Christi and, in 1852, was incorporated.
The area is home to two military installations, the Corpus Christi Army Depot and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi. The army depot is the largest helicopter repair
