Outrageous Fun in Manistee, Michigan

Outdoorsmen and women, you have a tough choice:
Do you want to land a fighting Coho Salmon, golf, hike, or walk over to the Little River Resort casino from your RV (hey…walking’s an outdoor activity, right?) in Manistee, Michigan?

Manistee, Michigan, may not roll of your tongue, but it scores outrageously high on the fun-o-meter. You’re on the shores of Lake Michigan, in the premier four season destination of the mid-west. If you’re an outdoorsman, look no further: you’ll be in fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, camping, and golfing heaven. And in the winter, you’ll be in cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing heaven. Michigan is all about beautiful, natural lakes and big-time national forests. Now, about that fishing…

The word is out that this part of Michigan is home to huge numbers of King (Chinook) Salmon, Brown Trout, Coho (Silver) Salmon, and Rainbow (Steelhead) Trout. It seems fish have all kinds of names these days. The Coho Salmon, in particular, are known to be the fighters in the area. If you’re on the charter boat just for the ride, and you’re secretly rooting for the fish, you’ll thrill to their rolling, jumping, leaping, and sometimes getting off the hook and making their break for open water! You best not mention that to the sports fishermen on the boat, though…

Manistee itself is an awesome place. If you or your family members are not so outdoorsy, or you also enjoy performing arts, you’ll love what’s going on in the city of Manistee. And everything is so close to your RV park at Little River. You can watch truly top notch productions at the Historic Ramsdell Theater, located in the business district. The Theater, built in 1903, has undergone a major restoration, from which everyone benefits. It’s beautiful, and the elevator insures that all people can enjoy the weddings, concerts, ballets, art exhibits, plays, etc. held at the Theater. After the theater, you might be ready to stroll along the Manistee Riverwalk. Now, this is cool.

The 1.5 mile Riverwalk goes along the Manistee River, and winds throughout the downtown district. You’ll get a real sense of Michigan history during your walk because you’ll pass by the docks, and get to watch huge freighters cruising along the river. That’s been going quite awhile . And as wonderful as this whole area is, you can enjoy it based out of your own home RV, and save money doing so. Oh…then there’s the Little River Casino. So how much fun do you want to have five minutes from your RV?

You can walk to the Little River Casino in five minutes if you’re staying at the Little River Resort RV campground. Really. Or, you can take a free shuttle, which has its charms depending on your mood and energy level. The Casino hotel has a terrific pool, sauna and health club and they more than welcome the Little River RV guests. You’ll have free high-speed wireless internet at the RV park, and access to the coin-operated laundry. The park is handicap accessible, as well.

So, if you can see yourself having a blast in this part of the Great State of Michigan, you really should consider staying at the Little River Resort RV Park. You can contact them through their website at
