October's Must-Stay Parks:
Stay in Your Own Forested Disney World!

Experience Fort Wilderness (yes, wilderness) near Walt Disney World…stay in your own forested Disney World!

Everyone loves Disney World. That’s not news. What is news is that you can camp and RV within Walt Disney World Resort. It’s true and it’s awesome.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, one of the original accommodations at Walt Disney World Resort, is the only RV and camping park inside of Walt Disney World Resort. The resort is located very close to tons of fantastic places, including the Magic Kingdom Theme Park. Fort Wilderness Resort is near virtually all the attractions in the area, which are considerable. You will appreciate the the Resort’s internal bus system. It takes you to other buses you may need, and it also takes you to the boat (which takes you to the parks). People often remark how consistently and steadily the buses run, and how seldom they ever had to wait on one.

But while you’re actually in Fort Wilderness Resort, established in 1971, you’ll discover a beautiful civilization in itself: peaceful, quiet trails; deer everywhere, rabbits, duck…nature at her loveliest. The noise of the world fades away into the Resort’s remarkable forest, which is pretty amazing considering you are so very close to some of the finest action in Orlando, Florida. And the natural beauty extends beyond the trees. Fort Wilderness Resort itself is known for being environmentally responsible, as well. It has earned the prestigious Green Lodging Program designation.

The resort has made considerable improvements over the years, including widening campsite entrances and enlarging many of the paving sites. Fort Wilderness Resort now offers pull-through check-in which helps you enter and get set up easily, even if you have a big rig. The resort is thoughtful in many other ways, as well.

For example, Disney’s Fort Wilderness values their guests with disabilities, and demonstrates that by providing wheelchair-accessible rooms and bathrooms, use of their medical and mobility equipment, complimentary wheelchairs (first come, first served), use of telephones/TTY for the hearing impaired, and provisions for service animals. While just about everyone loves Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, your children may especially love it.

The Resort really does keep the youngsters in mind. Your kids will have fun at the Meadow Swimmin' Hole. Their pool area has a wet play area for little ones, a new slide and a whirlpool. The resort also offers planned pool activities for children. Your kids can play at all the outdoor activity areas and they can also hang out at the arcades at the resort (there are two) playing a variety of video and pinball games. You’ll find safe babysitting and child care available to you at Fort Wilderness. That can come in handy!

Staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort increases your fun at Disney World. It’s like you have your own personal serene Disney World.
