September's Must-Stay Parks:
Discover Central Massachusetts Staying at Village Green Family Campground

Stay within your budget (really) and have fun: discover central Massachusetts staying at Village Green Family Campground.

Your family (and your wallet) will enjoy the attractions in the central Massachusetts area, especially if you save money because you’re staying at Village Green Family Campground. When you stay at Village Green Campground, you’re staying in the middle of Massachusetts’s beautiful Pioneer Valley. That means you’re close to attractions such as the Brimfield Antique Show, which is such a big deal that it’s worth scheduling your trip around the Show dates. Staying at Village Green Family Campground means you’re also staying close to the famed historic Old Sturbridge Village. Wow.

If you want to turn your kids’ hearts toward loving our country and its history, taking them to Sturbridge Village is a great way to start. Sometimes visualizing historical events can be difficult, especially for younger minds. But Old Sturbridge Village makes it easy…you are in history. Old Sturbridge Village is well renown for being one of our nation’s oldest and largest living history museums.

You’ll see early New England from about 1790- 1840. Historians wander in costume amongst antique buildings, talk with you, and show you various antiques. You’ll get up close and personal with heritage breed animals, and participate in hands-on spinning, help with kitchen chores (you know you want to), talk with real working farmers and lots of craftsmen. Sturbridge Village is open year-round, so you should stop in and get a real clear sense of rural New England life in the early 19th century. There’s something in this that speaks to all ages.

If you want something slightly more contemporary, shall we say…you’re also very close to Six Flags New England. That, of course, is always its own 21st century big time party! The staff at Village Green Campground will be happy to give you discount tickets for admission to Six Flags…another good reason to stay there.

The campground has its own spring-fed pond, beach (and beach volleyball court) , and offers activities for the whole family including fishing, baseball, basketball, and beach volleyball. They also have a dance hall (yes, dance hall!) with a real wooden dance floor… and you get to dance. There’s a recreation room and a playground, as well.

You can find open field sites at Village Green, along with large wooded sites, and modern restrooms. There’s a nice Laundromat and Country Store which makes for easy and convenient living. The campground sets up all kinds of special events for all ages including beach parties, dances, hayrides, and steak and lobster roasts.

Making your way to central Massachusetts is a great idea with all there is to see and do. You’ll be pleased you’ve created an affordable vacation if you stay at Village Green Family Campground. It’s really quite a good idea.
