Good Sam RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory

Great Charlotte, North Carolina Camping!

Need sensational, affordable lodging while at Charlotte’s 2012 Democratic National Convention? Or, if the kids buck the Convention idea, a place that’s also near the great Carowinds Theme Park? Look no further!

Tah Dah! You should stay at Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA in your personal RV home. First, let’s look at the Democratic National Convention; if you’re in the Charlotte, South Carolina area anywhere near September 3-6, 2012, hitting that Convention would be an once-in-a-lifetime experience…well, for most of us, anyway. What a thrill to watch all that wild political action, and introduce your kids to how our government really works, up close and personal, but you probably should make reservations like yesterday. In the off chance politics doesn’t enthrall you and yours, the Carowinds Theme Park just might.

Carowinds is two, count ‘em, two minutes away from the Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA. Have your kids ever met a theme park they didn’t like? This one won’t be the first. Carowinds, the “Thrill Capital of the Southeast”, meets just about everyone’s needs with their wild selection of rides, including the new “Windseeker”. Also new is live entertainment at the Park and the words out; it’s terrific. And it’s all two minutes away from your RV home if you stay at the Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA!

Let’s say you get a hankering for something more scientific, or dead. You should see the mummies at the great Discovery Place and Nature Museum of Charlotte. The mummies are very real and the interactive exhibits (you don’t interact with the mummies) are awesome. So is the IMAX theatre, always a big hit. And if you get tired of mummies, remember you’re in Charlotte…NASCAR country. Check out Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Now that’ll change up the mummy pace for you. And last, but certainly not least, is beautiful downtown, referred to as “uptown”, Charlotte. Now that’s a town. When you think “got it all,” think Charlotte.

Eventually, you’ll want to rest (well, most of your group, anyways) and when you head back to your KOA you’ll find WI FI, miniature golf on-site, bike rentals, and a sub and pizza joint right there. And for the grownups, there’s also a lounge and maybe only important to mom and dad, an RV repair place right on-site.

Whether you want to visit the Democratic National Convention, see Charlotte in all its glory and southern grandeur or run around the Charlotte/Fort Mill KOA, you’re in for a treat.
