Pinhoti Trail System
About 100 miles of hiking trails through Cheaha Wilderness and Talladega National Forest in northeastern Alabama. The south end is about 8 mi. S. of Cheaha State Park and the north end is at Dugger Mountain, 16 mi. N. of Heflin. The trail roughly parallels the Talladega Scenic Drive (Hwy. 49) and Forest Route 500. Located at the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains, the trail goes by Cheaha Mountain, the highest point in the state at 2,407 feet, and along the edges of rocky bluffs and through forested coves.
